Official Archiving & Preservation Policy
This journal is committed to the permanent preservation and accessibility of its scholarly content to ensure the integrity and continuity of the academic record. To this end, we have established a comprehensive, multi-layered digital preservation strategy that goes beyond simple metadata indexing and is designed to remain effective even if the journal ceases operations.
1. Primary External Preservation Services
The journal has activated and participates in active, independent, and recognized digital preservation services to ensure the long-term survival of our content. These services are listed in the Keepers Registry, a global monitor of archiving arrangements for e-serials.
Our primary preservation arrangements are with the following services:
• CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)
- Provider Name: CLOCKSS (a collaboration of leading publishers and libraries)
- Active Participation Status: Active deposit and archiving
- Content Deposited: Full content of the journal, including PDF files, XML, metadata, and supplementary files
- Coverage Dates: From Volume 1, Issue 1 to present
- Deposit Frequency: New content is deposited continuously and upon the publication of each new issue
- Preservation of Material: Preserves PDF, XML, metadata, and supplementary files in a secure, geographically distributed network
- Access Arrangement in Case of Cessation: Content is stored in a "dark archive." If the journal ceases publication or can no longer provide access, the CLOCKSS Board will vote to "trigger" the content, making it freely and permanently available to the public via open-access platforms.
• PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
- Provider Name: PKP Preservation Network
- Active Participation Status: Active deposit and archiving
- Content Deposited: Full content of the journal
- Coverage Dates: From Volume 1, Issue 1 to present
- Deposit Frequency: New content is automatically preserved upon publication through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform
- Preservation of Material: Preserves the authentic, original version of the content. Utilizes LOCKSS technology for decentralized and distributed preservation.
- Access Arrangement in Case of Cessation: Through the LOCKSS network, participating libraries will be able to provide seamless and perpetual access to the preserved content, safeguarding it even if the primary website becomes unavailable.
2. Institutional and Complementary Preservation
In addition to external services, the journal employs the following supplementary backup procedures:
• Institutional Repository: All content is permanently stored in the [Name of University/Institutional Repository], ensuring a stable, locally managed backup.
• Internal Backup Procedures: The journal maintains multiple, geographically separate, and secure copies of all content on its own servers, with regular and periodic updates to these backup copies to prevent data loss from technical failure or corruption.
• Metadata and Identifiers: Each article is assigned a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure stable and reliable citation, regardless of the host platform.
3. Scope and Content of Deposit
The preservation policy covers the complete and final versions of all published articles. The following file formats and content are deposited to the preservation services:
• PDF Files: The final published version of the article as a Portable Document Format (PDF/A) file.
• XML Files: The structured source file containing full text and metadata, ensuring future interoperability and conversion.
• Bibliographic Metadata: Citation information, author details, abstracts, keywords, and other descriptive metadata.
• Supplementary Files: Any supplementary materials, such as datasets, images, or multimedia files that accompany an article.
4. Access Guarantee
This policy ensures that the journal's content will not be lost should the journal or its publisher cease operations. The use of trusted, external services such as CLOCKSS and PKP PN provides a guarantee of perpetual access to the academic community and the public. The journal's own institutional backups further reinforce this commitment.
Note: This journal does not rely on indexing and abstracting services such as Scopus, ISC, Magiran, or CIVILICA for its primary preservation strategy. These services are invaluable for discoverability and access but do not constitute the long-term, secure archiving required for the preservation of the scholarly record. Our commitment to preservation is through the specific, active, and externally recognized services detailed above.
